New on the blog! Director of the Sustainability Office at the Bailey College of the Environment Jen Kleindenst 🌱

“For Kleindienst, a typical day involves meetings with students, community partners, and working on projects to support sustainability and environmental justice initiatives. She and her team guide our community towards three main goals: achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, implementing sustainability and environmental justice into Wesleyan’s academic programs and campus and community-based engagement projects, and integrating sustainability into campus culture.”

Announcing our schedule for the Summer Seminar Series! This year we are highlighting eight amazing Wesleyan faculty whose collective research focuses are as expansive as our summer program. We aim to increase dialog across disciplines in STEM, show the myriads of paths our students could take after engaging in their own scientific research this summer, and represent the broad interests, backgrounds, and expertise we have here at Wesleyan. The seminar series is open to all faculty, staff, and students on campus.

All seminars take place at 1:20pm in Tishler Hall (Exley 150), and are followed by a social on the patio.

New on the blog! Meet Assistant Professor of Engineering and Applied Science Elizabeth Chang-Davidson in her new profile on WAVES (link in bio).

Professor Chang-Davidson arrived at college with a plan: to double major in mechanical engineering and math, a combination which was shaped by interests she had carried throughout high school. During her high school years, she spent long afternoons and evenings working with her robotics team, building and troubleshooting whatever problems arose. In the summers, she went to math camps where she learned, as she puts it, “lots of weird math.” Pursuing both fields felt natural, and in the end she completed the exact double major she had imagined.
