Making History.
Again!
In a season-filled with big performances and dramatic wins, the Mercy Track and Field team saved its biggest record-breaking day for its last competition in Connecticut: the State Open.
Anchored by Sarah Roberts in her final Mercy competition, the team broke three school records and ended the year with one of its best days at the annual meet of champions last Saturday.
After winning the SCC championship for the second straight year and taking third at the Class MM championship, Robertsโs final victory in the 800 meter championship highlighted the day for Mercy.
One year after finishing second in the 800 in an unforgettable race with Brooke Strauss of Glastonbury, Roberts finally got her Outdoor Track & Field State Open by title by holding off a fierce challenge from another all-time CT great, Chase Gilbert of Old Lyme. And she did it by running her fastest time ever, a new school record time of 2:09.00.
The result, which was the sixth time Roberts has lowered her own record, was made all the sweeter by last yearโs dramatic race, and you can bet it was on her mind. As Gilbert pulled up to her in the last 100 meters, Roberts told herself she wasnโt going to be denied again. And wasnโt.
In the 4x800-meter-relay, Mercy was looking for its first-ever Open title in a relay, but the team came up just short, finishing third to New Canaan and Glastonbury. But the group of Alyson Low โ28, Cora Wasiolek โ28, Heather Meisinger โ28 and Roberts finished the race as the fastest 4x800-meter team in school history and the 13th fastest in state history. It also lowered the school record time by 14 seconds.
Still, the Tigers werenโt done.
Right after the 4x800-meter relay record, the 4x100-meter relay team of Ashlynn Desmond โ27, Molly Mones โ28, Kenzie Kielb โ28 and Hannah Naccarato โ29 ran 49.77 to finish 11th and break the 15-year old record of 49.93. The previous record was set by Jenna Geysen, Kathryn Malcolm, Hannah Woods, and Elizabeth Sia.
The 4x400-meter team of Ava Chiappetta, Veronika Meriano, Heather Meisinger and Sarah Roberts also finished eighth and Madelyn Scarfo (High Jump), Kathleen Gaboury (Shot Put), Ruby Kuselias (3200), Low (800) and Meriano (300 hurdles) competed In their individual events.
With those performances, Mercy leaves the season with six school records in the: 400 (Roberts), 800 (Roberts), Discus (Gaboury), and all three relays: 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800. Gaboury (Shot Put), Scarfo (High Jump) and Meriano (300 hurdles) also finished the year with the second best performances ever in their events.
Letโs go, Tigers!

Postcards from Italy! ๐ฎ๐น
Over the last six days, our intrepid Mercy travelers have put together quite the impressive travel log across the boot!
Along with earlier stops in Milan and Venice, the group has made its way to Florence, Tuscany, and Assisi!
In Florence, there was a guided walking tour through the historic center and a visit to the Duomo. Then in Tuscany, a trip to the beautiful hillside town of San Gimignano. And finally in Assisi our group took in the stunning Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. But as exciting as all the sights and stops have been, it has been the attitude and energy of the group that has left a lasting impression for many of the chaperones.
With each new day, our students (and graduates) have embraced the moment and gotten as much out of the experience as possible.
Hereโs to the remaining week in Italy!

Since touching down in the beautiful country, our Mercy travelers have wasted no time making the most of their European adventure!
Over the last two days, theyโve already visited Venice and the nearby islands of Murano and Burano, explored the Basilica di San Marco, and experienced a classic gondola ride through the cityโs famous canals. And theyโre on the move again today! Stay tuned!
As the group makes its way through Italy and the all famous locales, weโll be sharing photos and updates to keep you posted on their adventures!
Hereโs wishing the whole group and their chaperones the trip of a lifetime!

History on the Tennis Court!
After leading Mercy Tennis all season as the teamโs top player, Amelia Mullane โ27 snagged her own piece of history Sunday when she became the programโs first All-State player in 15 years!
Mullane, who was the Tigersโ No. 1 singles player throughout the last two seasons, earned the distinction by reaching the round of 16 in the end of the year CIAC Invitational Championship. Margot Schumann was the last Mercy Tennis player to achieve All-State in 2011.
In the first round this weekend, Mullane defeated Wynter Worth of Woodstock Academy, 6-1, 6-0. Then in the second round, she came back from an opening set loss to beat Fredericka Franco of Sacred Heart Academy, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6.
For Mullane, the win over Franco was well-earned. And not without its own bit of drama, and history.
During the regular season, the pair met twice with Franco winning both matches after three sets. And on Sunday, it was another hard-fought match, but whenever Mullane fell behind, including twice in the second set tiebreaker, she was ready for her response.
In 2021, the CIAC switched from an Open championship to an Invitational. A year ago, Mullane was part of the first group of Mercy athletes to make the invitational and she lost in the opening round. But it wouldnโt be repeated this year.
After helping get Mercy back to the state tournament this season with her typically dynamic play, Mullane seized the moment on Day 1 of the invitational, playing some of her best tennis of the year.
On Monday, Mullaneโs season ended one match shy of the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to three-seeded Lavanya Rahore of South Windsor.
Congratulations Amelia on a recording-setting moment and a fantastic season!
Throughout this spring, you have constantly helped propel our team forward with your steadfast commitment to your team and your sport. And itโs a such a pleasure to cheer you on!
Thanks for making us so proud!

Forever Tigers.
Before their season ended in the Class M State Tournament, the Mercy Lacrosse team celebrated the Class of 2026 with a special Senior Day Ceremony. And always, the group brought their own character and personality to event.
But did you expect anything less?
Over the last four years, whether they started at the beginning, or joined this year, this class has provided the program with a spirit and an identity that we will never forget. And along the way, that belief in each other and their team helped Mercy Lacrosse reach the postseason in back-to-back seasons for the first time in seven years.
To Arabella, Maddie, Kaya, Sienna and Emily.
Thank you.
As we look back on these last four years, you should know it is nearly impossible to think of this program without you -- you had your fingerprints on so much. And no matter, what happens next, that personality, that character, that spirit...
It will always be what we think about when we think about Mercy Lacrosse.

Your 2026 Southern Connecticut Conference Spring Sports Scholar Athletes from Mercy High School!
Mackenzie Hanson โ26 (Mercy Golf) & Irene Milite โ26 (Mercy Tennis)!
Congratulations to Mackenzie and Irene on representing Mercy proudly as scholar leaders, and a special thank you to for sponsoring the award!
As we say goodbye to another school year at Mercy, we couldnโt ask for two better representatives to end the year highlighting.
No matter the day, no matter the competition, MacKenzie and Irene gave their best for our community, and we were lucky to have them as a part of our teams. And as we look forward to a new school year at Mercy, we can only hope that some of their teammates will follow their lead when we return in August.
Thank you, MacKenzie, and Irene!
Throughout your time as a Mercy Tigers, you did everything the right way, and our teams are better for it!

Scenes From A Mercy Spring๐ท๐ ๐
It is officially summer break on Randolph Road!
However, over the next week or so, we plan to look back on all the moments that helped define the busiest, most emotional season at Mercy: Spring!
If youโre a Mercy student, a Mercy graduate, or a member of our community, you know what we mean. The spring months are an unforgettable time at Mercy, and this year was no different. Not only did we say goodbye to the Class of 2026, but we also celebrated so many special milestones. And as much as we all look forward to summer, these spring days are some of the hardest to say goodbye to every year.
For all of us, Mercy is at its best in the spring.
Three weeks ago, our seniors celebrated their final day at Mercy High School. As usual, we held our Senior Parade and Seniorsโ Last Day Assembly, but that evening they also came back for a special night together.
Here are some images and scenes from that goodbye: ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐!
