Congrats Mike Fansler. MHS Class of 1987

Please join with me to Congratulate Dr. Mike Fansler and The Western Illinois University Wind Ensemble, celebrating the international release of the monumental work of composer David Maslanka's "The River of Time". This work is a towering emotional symphony written during the composer's most difficult time, and remained unfinished at the time of his own death. As you will hear, his son, Matthew, picked up the remaining sketches and completed this massive achievement of anguish, pain and hidden sorrow....and it's release.

Along with Dr. Fansler's work as an authority on the works of Percy Grainger, he now sets the standard for all future works of Maslanka. His understanding and depth of emotional acuity, and his ability to convey and interpret these ideas to the Wind Ensemble, will stand as a testament to this Masterpiece. BRAVO!

Sharing from the Appoquinimink School District....

HELP HONOR our proud history with an Everett Meredith Commemorative Ornament: Orders due by November 1, 2019 - The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Team at Everett Meredith Middle School invites you to purchase a piece of history – a commemorative ornament celebrating the proud legacy of Everett Meredith Middle School and the thousands of students who have called EMMS home. The historic, 90-year old building, located on South Broad Street in Middletown, served for nearly 70 years as Middletown High. When enrollment numbers swelled, a new Middletown High was opened on Silver Lake Road, and the building on South Broad Street became Middletown Middle. In 2002, local community members petitioned the Board to rename the school Everett Meredith Middle School (EMMS), after respected local history teacher and principal, Everett Meredith. This summer, thanks to the community’s support of Appoquinimink’s 2016 referendum, we’ll embark on a massive, two-year renovation process. It will transform EMMS into a space capable of supporting learners for the next century. We’ll retain elements like a History Wall, made from the original building’s wood & bricks and featuring donated artifacts from past classes; but when EMMS reopens in Fall 2022, learners will be housed in a new building (at the same address) that honors the past, but looks to the future. To honor the memory of the school and its alumni, the PBS team is selling commemorative EMMS ornaments. All proceeds will benefit current students. If you wish to purchase this one of a kind keepsake for $10, please complete the attached order form and return it by November 1; or order online at https://meredithmiddle.org/ and click on the PBS link. Our thanks to EMMS Art Educator Suzanne Klein whose illustration is featured on the ornament. http://edne.tw/n593767
