Bravo, Kyle! đź©·đź©·đź©·
Wangunk artist Kyle Bright Star O’Neil is the featured artist throughout October at the Historic Middle Haddam Public Library in East Hampton. More than 100 guests attended her October 4 opening reception, which included a traditional Wangunk ceremony on the library lawn.
Kyle’s work spans terra cotta and white clay reliefs, monoprints, collage, and photography. Her creative journey has taken her far and wide! She has exhibited with Angels Fly Together, a Down Syndrome Association in Argentina, and with Alexander’s Angels at the United Nations in New York. Here in Connecticut, her work has appeared in the Connecticut Women Artists Annual Open Juried Group Exhibition at the Slater Museum in Norwich, as well as at The Buttonwood Tree and the Free Center in Middletown, to name a few!
Kyle and her father, Wangunk Elder Gary Red Oak O’Neil, have also exhibited together at Russell Library in Middletown and right here at Wesleyan Potters! Gary, an artist, potter, and instructor at Wesleyan Potters, has inspired Kyle to bring her art to light. Both are part of our WesPots family, and it brings us such joy to celebrate Kyle’s work and watch her creative journey continue.
These beautiful textured, enameled copper earrings with black feathers were created for Kyle by Wesleyan Potters Jewelry Key Member and Metal Studio Co-Representative Linda Staphos Wosczyna. A lovely expression of the care and creativity within our community!
