At Lucy School, we believe some of the best learning happens outside! From leaf hunts and nature walks to scientific observations by the pond, our teachers make the most of our beautiful outdoor spaces. Every season brings new opportunities to explore, wonder, and learn together.

Did you know that our PreK-8th grade students participate in herb classes throughout the year? 🌿

Joined by herbalist Ashley Davis, our students explore the world of herbs through hands-on learning. Ms. Ashley shares her knowledge, provides samples, and helps students identify different herbs growing in our school garden.

This month, Ms. Ashley introduced students to lemon balm! Students tasted lemon balm tea and glycerite, located the herb in the garden, and learned about its benefits.

Over the weekend, Ashley hosted an Elderberry Syrup Workshop for our families and community members. Participants learned how to identify elderberries and made a batch of syrup to take home.

Ms. Courtney’s Pre-K 3 class got their hands dirty harvesting potatoes from the Lucy School garden! Ms. Courtney loves to garden and always includes her students in gardening activities, from planting to harvesting. A fun fact: the potatoes harvested last week were planted by last year’s class! 🥔🪏🧑‍🌾

A beautiful picture of our Big Red Barn! ❤️

May 4, 2026. The Lucy School. I'm always amazed at the transformation and refurbishment of this bank barn on Frostown Road just outside of Myersville. As I have been told, the interior is even more amazing! I drove by on a stormy day and the colors of the scene from along Frostown Road really jumped out at me. The large red wooden barn with its accompanying silo really popped against the vibrant greens of spring with many wildflowers blooming in the field just on the other side of the fence. Don't miss the little vehicle parked in teh small garage next to the barn!
