All of our sixth grade science classes today got to learn about the science of composting and how it can solve problems for our environment today. Mrs. Scott, a Newcastle County Community Compost Site manager and our school librarian, gave the students opportunities to experience actual compost and the tools needed to compost at home.

May was filled with Career Exploration for some of our 8th grade students! First, students entering the Healthcare Sciences Pathway visited the District’s Healthcare Sciences Capstone Showcase. Second, students entering the Engineering pathway visited the District’s Engineering Fair. Both events featured graduating seniors who presented their projects addressing current problems within their industry, followed by presenting possible solutions.
Third, students entering the Education and Leadership pathway volunteered at Cedar Lane Elementary’s activity day. Students helped 1st and 2nd graders at various stations, providing guidelines, modeling positive behavior, and having fun in the sun with them!

As we celebrate National Principals Day, we want to take a moment to recognize our own leader, Dr. Tanner!
Dr. Tanner has led AGW as Principal for the past 8 years. Over the years, he has connected with and made a meaningful impact on thousands of students. He has served as a model of dedication, professionalism, and shark pride. Every day he leads through example by demonstrating our core values of respect, innovation, leadership, and hard work.
We thank him for all of his dedication in making AGW an exemplary place to learn and connect.
