🌎🏝️ 6th Grade Social Studies Spotlight! 🏝️🌎

Mrs. Francois and Mrs. Mandel’s 6th grade Social Studies students recently wrapped up their unit on Mental Mapping and the 5 Themes of Geography with a fun and creative “Create Your Own Island” Project!

Students put their geography skills to work as they designed their own unique islands, incorporating the 5 Themes of Geography—Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region. They used creativity, critical thinking, and their understanding of geography to bring their islands to life.

To finish the project, students had the opportunity to present their islands to the class, explaining the choices they made and showcasing what made their island unique. 🗺️🌴

We loved seeing students take ownership of their learning, share their ideas, and celebrate each other’s creativity! Great job, 6th grade! 🌎🦅

📐✨ Math in Action during Enrichment!

Ms. Shen’s students were putting their math skills to work during an engaging surface area station rotation! Students worked collaboratively in small groups to measure the sides of boxes using cubes and then use those measurements to find the surface area.

This hands-on activity gave students the opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve, communicate their thinking, and apply math to a real-world task. We love seeing our students Level Up their learning through meaningful, interactive experiences! 💚💛
