Happy Nurses Week to all fellow, aspiring, and retired nurses! ♥️

What an incredible profession GOD has allowed me to witness and be a part of over the last 28 years. From compassion and sacrifice to strength and healing, nursing is more than a career — it’s a calling.

Thank you to every nurse who continues to make a difference in the lives of others each and every day. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. Keep inspiring, caring, and leading with heart. 🩺✨

Heroes’ work is never done. 💪❤️

Training. Practice. Repetition.
Because when seconds matter, confidence saves lives.

The more we train, the better the outcomes when it comes to life-saving skills. Every CPR compression, every rescue breath, and every hands-on practice session prepares heroes to respond when it matters most.

At First State Healthcare Heroes Academy, we don’t just teach skills — we build confidence, leadership, and lifesavers for our community.

Train Hard. Save Lives. Be the Hero. 🚑🩺

Every second counts during a choking emergency. According to the American Heart Association and national injury data:

* Choking is a leading cause of accidental death in the United States.
* Thousands of adults die from choking each year, especially older adults.
* More than 12,000 children are treated in emergency departments annually for food-related choking incidents.
* Brain damage can begin within 4–6 minutes without oxygen.

How AHA BLS Can Save Lives

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) training teaches rescuers how to respond quickly and confidently during airway emergencies.

BLS training helps save lives by teaching students to:

* Recognize the signs of severe choking
* inability to speak
* silent cough
* bluish skin or lips
* hands clutching throat
* Perform immediate lifesaving interventions
* back blows
* abdominal thrusts
* chest thrusts for infants or special populations
* Start CPR immediately if the victim becomes unresponsive
* chest compressions may help dislodge the object
* CPR keeps oxygenated blood moving to the brain and heart until EMS arrives

Why Training Matters

Early bystander intervention dramatically increases survival rates. A person trained in AHA BLS can:

* respond faster
* reduce panic
* provide high-quality care before emergency responders arrive
* potentially prevent brain injury or death.

“Heroes aren’t born — they’re trained. AHA BLS gives everyday people the power to recognize choking emergencies and take lifesaving action when every second matters.”
