Music, once a holistic art form, has evolved into a splintered global culture. The vast array of resources now allows proficient practitioners to skillfully adapt the works of great masters, seamlessly blending elements from different styles. However, any authentic Karnatak rendition requires a heightened sense of listening at both macro and micro levels.
Professor Karaikudi S. Subramanian introduces COMET methodology as a comprehensive guide towards accurate self-learning in Karnatak music. In these masterclasses, you will be guided through the process of self-learning by opening yourselves to holistic listening at the macro level and detailed listening at the micro level. Holistic listening makes the students absorb the whole song over various stages of listening. This method not only helps a student within the culture but also goes beyond cultural boundaries to sensitize any student of music to the nuances of any musical system.
