Good morning Vikes and Happy Memorial Day!

We are excited for our Season Welcome Party tomorrow! Here’s a reminder on the deets:

When: Tuesday, May 28th, at 6pm
Where: Ragsdale Home- 8455 Brookhaven Place, Middleton
(Parking - there are a few spaces in the “lot” by the driveway, but once those are full please pull through the driveway into the adjacent field for parking. I will have one of my kids out there to direct you!)
Bring: a side and a dessert to share. We will provide pulled pork sandwiches.
Who: all coaches, student athletes, and their families!

PLEASE RSVP TODAY by texting Sara Stinger @ 208-371-5056, with your name and the number of people in your party. She is smoking the meat!

There will be lawn games, volleyball, trampoline and play set, slack line, and plenty of socializing! We will be solidifying our calendar for the year, signing up for parent and coaching volunteer positions, reviewing race day expectations, We will also have a fit kit so kids can try on sizes for our new team gear! If you are unable to make it tomorrow night, please contact me about setting up a time to try the kit on. We will be opening the team store for ordering in the next week or so.

It’s going to be lots of fun, and we are so excited to welcome the new families to our team!

OTHER REMINDERS:

1) If you haven’t already, please join the Stack Team App by searching for the following phrase exactly: MHS/MMS - Mountain Biking. This is where the majority of the team communication will come. Rides and other events are posted there. Let me know if you are having trouble.

2) Registration! We have a few kids and coaches who are not ride ready on PitZone. If you have questions or are waiting to register for some reason, please let me know. Registration is technically open until July 1st, but you must be fully registered to participate in the pre-season activities. You can join 1 activity with a waiver.
Also, the $100 team dues is to be paid to the high school office. Since school is out, you can bring your check to me tomorrow night and I can check you off.

3) First Pre-Season Team Ride:
June 1st, 9-11am @ Eagle Bike Park. Meet at the upper parking lot by the skate park. Please RSVP as a student and a coach so we can plan accordingly.

For anyone interested in more MTB race opportunities, there is a great little race series through Twisted Turtle Racing. They have cross country, enduro, short track, etc...for all age groups! Thier first event is TOMORROW at avimore! My whole family will be there, check it out!

There will be a MTB club info meeting for interested student and parents next thursday, April 18th, at 7pm. Location TBA, but probably at the high school. Stay tuned!

If you are prepared to begin the registration process, email [email protected]. Include the full name of the Student, and the full name and email address of the parent/guardian who will be registering the student athlete. I will then send you an invite to register in Pitzone. You will create an account in Pitzone, and can begin filling out the information. I suggest that you wait on payment until after the info meeting next week. GO VIKES!

-GEAR check. Schedule an appointment with our friend Eric at 208 Cycles in Star for a bike tune up. Do you have: helmet, full fingers MTB gloves, sunglasses, hydration pack, etc.

-April 1: REGISTRATION opens. A post about fees will follow soon.

-May 1: PRE-SEASON activities (peddle parties, food parties, etc.) will begin. Feel free to come join the fun and see how you like riding on dirt with friends. Bring buddies! Deets to come.

-July 1: TRAINING season starts
Typical weeks we are training locally three times a week; Tuesday evening, Thursday evening, and Saturday mornings.

RACE Schedule:
Aug 17- Brundage
Aug 24- Magic Mountain
Sept 21- Soldier Mountain
Sept 28- Jug Mountain
Oct 5- Bogus Basin

Race weekends are parties for the whole family! On Friday evening students and coaches will pre-ride the race course. Vikes families will camp out together on site, group breakfast Saturday morning, and then races start first thing in the morning and go till about 4pm, and an awards ceremony afterwards for podium winners. There is always someone to cheer for! Bring your cow bells! Its a team potluck at our tent. There will be signups for parent volunteers to help with everything from team food to NICA race
course guards, so lots of ways to be involved. I'll post soon about coaching opportunities ;)

Our team is organized within IICL (Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League), which is a part of NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association. Feel free to check out these amazing organizations to learn more about our team.

Well there is a time for every season and now is the time to pass the spoke wrench for the team to new leaders. For the 2024 season, Will Stinger will be head coach, and Estee Ragsdale will be team director.
Suzanne and I were blessed beyond measure to start something in Middleton that has impacted so many young lives. It truly was a life experience we will greatly treasure.
We look forward to supporting and working with Will and Estee for hopefully years to come.
