Try a little tenderness toward your past self.
Forgive your mistakes.
Love that part of you that was just doing the best they knew how to do.

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.

Happiness is so amazing that it doesn’t even have to be yours for it to positively affect you. When I’m in the vicinity or presence of a genuinely happy person I always feel lighter, more optimistic, and even a little bit of a gut check. The gut check, for me is a pattern of living in the land of conditional joy. How am I standing in the way of my own joy? Damn it! It was me the whole time!

Fire! I could smell the smoldering fire from a block away.

Turns out it was a planned burn for the front yard to prep the soil for spring growth.

We are all going to have times in our lives when we start over and sometimes our lives needs a prescribed burn.

For agriculture, fire can help renew the soil, eliminate weeds, and pave the way for a healthier ecosystem.

Starting over after heartbreak, after the kids are growth and gone, after an unexpected career change, or a health diagnosis can feel impossible, unfair, and like life is picking on you. I know I’ve felt all of that before!

Starting over takes courage and that courage lives in you right now! Starting over is a time to:

Recalibrate, Retool, and Re-engage.

You got this!

Change your beliefs. Change your life. 😎

The Rosenthal Effect, also known as the Pygmalion Effect, is one of the most unsettling findings in psychology because it shows how human expectations can quietly shape reality. First demonstrated by psychologist Robert Rosenthal, the effect revealed that when people believe someone will succeed or fail, their behavior subtly changes in ways that make that belief more likely to come true.

In the original classroom experiments, teachers were told that certain students showed exceptional potential, even though the labels were randomly assigned. Over time, those students performed better academically. Psychology explains this through expectation driven behavior. Teachers unknowingly gave more attention, encouragement, patience, and feedback to the students they believed were gifted. The students responded to that treatment, not to any inherent difference.

From a psychological perspective, the brain is highly responsive to social signals. Tone of voice, facial expressions, body language, and emotional warmth all influence motivation and self belief. When positive expectations are present, the brain interprets the environment as supportive, increasing confidence, focus, and persistence. Negative expectations do the opposite, activating stress responses that interfere with learning and performance.

The Rosenthal Effect is unsettling because it operates unconsciously. People are rarely aware they are shaping outcomes. This applies not only in education, but also in parenting, leadership, therapy, and relationships. Beliefs held by authority figures or loved ones can strengthen or weaken another person’s psychological development.

Introducing The Corner Guy Collective lead by Glenn Evans - a FREE space for men to talk freely

Most of us were taught to push through, stay tough, and keep moving.
And, the old ways aren’t working anymore.
Not for our health, our peace, our marriages, or our sense of purpose.

The Corner Guy Collective is a grounded community for men who want something more.
More clarity.
More connection.
More strength that comes from presence, not pressure.

Starting in January 2026, we meet weekly online (or bi-weekly in person in Madison WI), to do the work men are rarely given space for:
sparring with old patterns
resetting stress
building habits that hold us up
and supporting each other between the rounds of life.

This is not therapy.
It’s not a place to fix anyone.

It’s a space where men stand in each other’s corners and grow together.

If you’re ready to step into 2026 with more inner freedom, more resilience, and a solid community of men who get it, the Corner Guy Collective is for you.

“…ain’t nobody gonna save me but me” -Bliss N Eso ‘Lighthouse’ Realizing this truth was profound and difficult at the same time. Letting go of blame, self pity, and the desire to be rescued by divine intervention, a person, or circumstances was a whole process by itself. It HAD to be ME that showed up for ME. It had to be me that saw the value in creating a life I didn’t need to escape from. This is how we heal! This is how we fulfill our commitment to be cycle breakers! **kyeslife

Children who grow up in homes filled with frequent conflict can experience neurological changes that resemble those seen in soldiers returning from combat.
According to researchers at Stanford University, prolonged exposure to emotional tension triggers stress-response systems in the developing brain.
Brain scans in the study revealed heightened activity in regions linked to fear, vigilance, and emotional regulation.
These shifts suggest that even non-physical forms of conflict can have deep and lasting biological impacts on children.
The findings highlight the urgent need for supportive family environments and early intervention.
