Kobudo night at the dojo. Lots of tuifa, nunti sai, and tichu! We received our renewed dojo certificate today from Sensei Perkins of the USA Honbu dojo in Michigan. Proud to continue to teach Tokumura Sensei’s Kobudo here in Kentucky. If Okinawan weapons training interests you, come see us!

Saddened to learn of the passing of James Lew. Many of you will recognize him for his many on screen roles. I had the opportunity to spend some time with him at an event many years ago. The martial arts world lost a great one!

Congratulations to Mary Mason, Lisa Knight, Cayleigh Miracle, and Alex Miracle on their promotions tonight. Yellow belts for Mary and Lisa and orange belts for Cayleigh and Alex. We are so proud of how far each of these kids have came and look forward to what they accomplish in the future!

Great day of competition at the Isshinryu Hall of Fame! Congrats to Lewis Tuberville and Kevin Hunter on bringing some hardware back to Middlesboro and New Tazewell! I also have to brag on the Scarborough family. They train Kobudo with me and the Scarborough kids are my adopted Nephews! Dad, Randy, won his division in Kobudo and finished 3rd in Kumite. His son Elijah also fought hard and brought back some Kumite hardware! Also, a big congratulations to Sensei John Crowther for receiving his Dragon Tab today from Shihan Denny Shaffer!

Great night at the Isshinryu Karate Hall of Fame. Kudos to the board for the most efficient and fun awards night I’ve been a part of. Congrats to all the nominees, winners, and inductees!
