MCS Parents,
Power is currently out on campus and the surrounding area. Orchard View, Heritage, Northridge Middle, and Northridge High School are without power. Power went out after many K-5 students were already on buses. The current estimate from NIPSCO is that power will be restored at approximately 9:45AM. The plan is to continue with a normal school day. The schools have backup lighting and access to water and restrooms. Students are safe and the cafeteria staff will adjust for lunchtime. We will provide updates as necessary. York, Jefferson, and Middlebury Elementary Schools are not affected.

The Silly Safari visited The Official Northridge Middle School last week. This is always a great experience for students at all levels, as they get to learn about animals in a hands-on way. What a fun day!

Happy World Teachers' Day! Behind every incredible educator is a story of inspiration, mentorship, and a passion for making a difference.

Today, we are proud to spotlight Tetyana Selvesyuk, a kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary School!

In this video, Tetyana shares the story of a teacher who changed her life—and how that powerful connection inspired her to bring the same joy, curiosity, and care into her own kindergarten classroom every single day. From being inspired to inspiring the next generation, Tetyana embodies the true ripple effect of great teaching.

Co-teaching in action! Mrs. Prendergast, district technology coach, recently collaborated with 5th-grade teacher Mrs. Eichorst on a quick computer science unit. As a final project, students put their programming skills to the test by designing, coding, and debugging custom virtual pet applications. By combining logic, events, behaviors, and digital art, these young engineers successfully brought their digital companions to life.

This past Saturday was National PTO Appreciation Day, and we want to start the week by thanking all of our school volunteer groups—including our wonderful PTOs! Our schools run so much more smoothly because of our volunteers, who show how much they care through generous acts of service. Thank you for all that you do!
