#153 James Walsh, 33, of Alpena, Michigan, was arrested after months of conversations with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
According to the evidence in this case, James reached out through Facebook, acknowledged her age, pursued a relationship, repeatedly asked for explicit photos, sent explicit material, discussed s*x and having children, invited her to his home, and continued calling and messaging even after being ignored dozens of times.
He even invited the girl to church, talking about saving her soul, while allegedly making plans for what he wanted to do afterward.
This wasn’t one bad message. It wasn’t one misunderstanding. The evidence shows months of relentless pursuit.
Whatever questions exist regarding James’ mental capacity belong before the court. They do not make the alleged conduct disappear, and they do not mean children deserve any less protection.
James has now been arrested and charged. The evidence is in the hands of law enforcement, and the case will move through the court system.
Protect children first. Let the evidence speak.
James Walsh is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
