We're excited to introduce Officer Dan Lauer, the new School Resource Officer for the Region 15 Middlebury Schools! 🏫🎒🚓

"Officer Dan" brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience to this new role and will be a familiar, friendly face across our schools — building relationships with students, supporting staff, and helping keep our school community safe. Throughout his career, Officer Dan has championed community engagement and fostering positive relationships. Something he will continue to do with the MMS, MES, and LMES communities.

Two statewide honors for our Panthers! 🐾

PHS was named a 2026 CIAC Sportsmanship Champion and received the 2025–2026 Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup, recognizing last school year’s work to build a culture of sportsmanship, leadership, inclusion, and community - a commitment that continues this school year.

From supporting local food banks to welcoming the Connecticut Spokebenders and bringing fans together for “Pack the Stands” games, our students are showing how athletics can connect a community.

Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and PHS Athletic Leadership Council! Thank you to the families and fans who help build this culture every day.

Panther pride! 🐾 Congratulations to PHS sophomore Lilyana R on being featured in the SERVPRO Student Athlete Spotlight!

The SERVPRO Student Athlete Spotlight shines on Pomperaug High School sophomore Lilyana Reed! A golfer for the Panthers, Lilyana is a two-time recipient of the Beau Doherty/Michael Savage Teammate Award, recognizing her dedication to United Sports, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Meet this year’s student voices on the Region 15 Board of Education! 🐾

PHS students Sari, Liza, and Graceyn will serve as student representatives for the 2026–27 school year, with Liza returning for her second year.

They’ll share highlights from across our seven schools and bring students’ experiences, ideas, and perspectives to Board conversations. We look forward to hearing from them throughout the year!

Wellness Wednesday ❤️

It was a healthy start to the school year at PES where 5th graders began the school year by connecting wellness with something they already know and love - having fun and being active!

As part of a welcome-back activity with classroom teacher Mrs. Kean and PE teacher Mrs. Catuccio, students shared their favorite sports and activities and explored how staying active helps keep their hearts healthy and strong.

The conversations also led to another important part of wellness: connection.

As students discovered classmates who enjoy some of the same activities and sports, they found common ground, made new connections, and strengthened friendships.

A great reminder for that a healthy heart is about more than movement ... it's about how being active, having fun, and connecting with others contribute to our well-being. ❤️

Fifty years later, there’s still plenty of school spirit! 🐾

Members of the Class of 1976, Region 15’s first graduating class, returned for their 50th reunion September 25 – 27th. They joined the Homecoming fun, cheered alongside students at the football game, and toured PHS with Dr. Paul Jones and student guides.

A favorite moment from the weekend? When today’s cheerleaders learned that alumna Laurie Hornbecker had been a cheerleader, they invited her to join them on the sidelines! Former Southbury High School varsity football captain Peter Zaloumis was also in the stands, cheering the Panthers on to a Homecoming win!

For classmates who traveled from near and far (coming from across Connecticut, and even California, Illinois, Florida, France, and London!) the weekend was a chance to catch up, share stories, and make a few new memories. They had wonderful things to say about the students who welcomed them and made them feel at home.

This is what our music community is all about! After performing at Region 15’s convocation in August, PHS student, Jordan N., was invited by GES principal Jon Romeo and music teacher, Ashley Dunne to sing at the Gainfield gathering this week!

The best part ? GES students learned every word and sang right along with him!

🎶 8:10 PM (approx.): PHS singers lead the National Anthem!

MMS PE students are moving with dynamic warm-ups and stretching!

Students are preparing their bodies for activity through movements such as high knees, side shuffles and leg swings. Dynamic stretching helps improve mobility, coordination, and readiness for physical activity while promoting healthy movement habits!
