The tradition continues! It was a beautiful morning for our annual “Ride your Pony to School Day." Over 30 students rode their ponies from Stonehedge Farm through the Virginia Tech Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center by the Dornin Science Center, to the Ampitheater at Hill School. Special thanks to Jane & Andrew Bishop, the Mare Center, the many trainers, and the parents for making this possible.

It was a wonderful day for our Annual Grandparents Luncheon and All-School Halloween Costume Parade. Students showcased a variety of creative costumes for the grandparents, and then celebrated the day with their classmates. Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Soccer team on their win at their final home game, yesterday. They were down at half time but worked hard in the second half for a victory.

Our Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students have been learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Last week they traveled to Wayside Farm Fun to explore the pumpkin patch in person and have a little fun too! # bestofloudoun .

In their Dornin Lab program first graders learned about insects by finding them on campus and then making clay replicas to understand insect anatomy.

Our wide variety of camps and our wonderful counselors are why The Hill School Summer Camp/Program was voted "Best of Loudoun" for 2023! Well done counselors & campers!

On June 8, 2023 Hill School’s first Kindergarten teacher, Molly deButts Spencer passed away. Molly began teaching at Hill in 1970 and went on to teach Kindergarten for 31 years. She was named Faculty Emerita in 1999. Molly was a passionate educator with the unique ability to understand how children saw the world. She had a lasting impact on decades of alumni of the school. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville, Virginia with a reception following at Buchanan Hall. Aladdin and Hip Hop Campers are having a great time learning both hip hop & jazz styles of dance. They also made Genie and Princess Jasmine puppets, a hip hop boom box, and designed their own t-shirts for the parent performance!
