On Monday, Mr. Broskie sent an email clarifying the difference between the PERC Showing of Interest Card and the Contract Ratification Voting Form. Mr. Broskie and the district are absolutely correct that the PERC Showing of Interest Card is separate from the vote to ratify the contract.
CCEA has bargained every contract with the district since 1975. The purpose of signing a PERC Showing of Interest Card is to help preserve CCEA as the bargaining unit and, in turn, preserve a contract that we have fought for on behalf of Clay County educators for more than 50 years.
We would like to thank the district for communicating this information to members on our behalf and for their cooperation in helping us keep CCEA—and the contract we have fought for—in existence. Everyone understands that without CCEA continuing to exist as the bargaining unit for Clay County, the CCEA contract will cease to exist.
And to be clear: A CCEA Rep will never prohibit you from voting on the contract because you choose not to fill out a PERC Showing of Interest Card.
Two separate forms.
Two separate purposes.
