At Clay County District Schools, the safety and security of our students is our top priority! 🛡️ To ensure a safe learning environment for everyone while welcoming our amazing community, we’ve updated our volunteer procedures.

Whether you’re chaperoning a field trip, helping in the classroom, or cheering on our student-athletes, we have a spot for you! We’ve introduced two tiers of volunteering (Level 1 & Level 2) with tailored screening processes to keep our campuses secure. 🏫💙

📌 Returning Volunteer Update:

Previous Level 1 Volunteers: Because our process has changed, you will need to reapply for this school year.

Current Level 2 Volunteers: You’re all set! If your 5-year clearance is still active, you do not need to reapply.

I was honored to accept a variety of awards when I was a teacher, but the greatest reward of all was always the connections I made with students and the journeys we took together that led to their success, learning, growth, and confidence in who they were becoming. ❤️

In my second term, I will continue in my two decade mission of helping our children and make sure literacy and engagement stay at the forefront of decision making. I want our children to love reading and love school. 📚🏫

When I was a teacher, my door was always open to new teachers or teachers that needed help or guidance.

As a school board member I have kept on-going office hours so anyone could meet with me. I am the only board member to visit almost 30 of our schools to specifically meet with and talk to our incredible educators. I have also hosted public forums for Clay residents to discuss education.

When re-elected, I will continue to keep these doors open just like my classroom door always was. 🏫❤️

Today, I had the honor of delivering Tools for Schools supplies to teachers at seven schools across Clay County!

As a retired teacher, I miss the classroom, but supporting our educators is the next best thing. That's why I've worked to be a strong voice for teachers on the School Board and will continue fighting for the resources and support they deserve.

Wishing all of our amazing teachers a fantastic school year! I also want to thank my wonderful hubby for always being by my side!

I am honored to have been chosen by the National School Board Association to participate in the Policy Leadership Cohort for Special Education in D.C.!

I will also be completing the Advanced Certified Board Member training through the Florida School Board Association (FSBA).

I am one of roughly 70 FSBA Certified Board Members in the whole state of Florida.

⭐️Don't forget early voting is from August 8th to 15th and election day is August 18th! We are almost there!⭐️

Many people know I was a Clay teacher for a long time. But, you might not know that I am the only school board member certified through the Florida School Board Association (FSBA). There are roughly 70 certified board members out of about 360 total board members in Florida.

I have also been selected to be a part of the National School Board Policy Leadership Cohort in Washington, D.C. for Special Education and Teacher Recruitment and Retention.

In my second term, I will visit D.C. to work with NSBA and continue my state advocacy committees and training through FSBA. I have the classroom experience and have now trained to specifically advocate for education on the state and national levels.

Before our hallways fill with students next week, they are filling today with the incredible energy, collaboration, and dedication of Team OneClay! Welcome back to the official start of the 2026-2027 school year. 🌟

We are starting this year with incredible momentum! Not only have we maintained our prestigious A-rating since 2018, but last year, our incredible students, educators, and staff smashed records by achieving the HIGHEST points total in our district’s history! And we aren't stopping there—this week is all about planning, prepping, and collaborating to make this school year even better. 📈✨

Thank you to all of our educators, administrators, and support staff for the countless hours of behind-the-scenes work you put in to ensure a fantastic year ahead. Together, we are ready for a productive week and a year of Discovering Endless Possibilities.
