Children need permission to not like everyone.

They should never be taught that kindness means forced friendship, fake affection or staying close to someone who doesn’t feel right to them.

But they also need to learn that dislike is a feeling — not a license.

It doesn’t give us permission to mock someone, exclude them for sport, turn others against them, embarrass them or make them feel small.

We can step back without punishing. We can have boundaries without becoming cruel. And we can decide someone isn’t for us without deciding they deserve less dignity.

Because one of the clearest signs of character is not how we treat the people we adore.

It’s who we choose to BE, around the people that we don’t. ❤️

October is National Children’s Health Month — a good reminder to check in on what helps your child feel their best every day:

☑️ Enough sleep to recharge.
☑️ Time to move, play, and explore.
☑️ Chances to talk, ask questions, and connect with you.
☑️ Books to enjoy together — again and again. 📚

The small things you make time for have a lasting impact on how your child grows and develops.

When a child comes to us buzzing with excitement, they aren't just sharing a story — they are offering us a piece of themselves.

Yes, life is full. There are meals to make, messages to answer, and a hundred responsibilities pulling at our attention.

But building a deep connection doesn't require a grand gesture; it happens in the small moments where we choose to stop the world and simply listen.

Don't just manage the day. Inhabit the moments that make it worth it. ❤️

Sleep is essential for a child's growing brain. Getting enough sleep helps them focus, do better in school, manage their emotions, and helps the brain organize and store what they learn each day. Here's what happens in the brain while we sleep to help us perform our best. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4tMD3RD
