well, here we are. we just wanted to send some "official" reminders about tomorrow's big day. those are found in the pictures attached.
a few insights as well.
* Carver HS holds their graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. Figure an hour for the ceremony and then a good amount of time for pictures after the ceremony. this can take a bit of time. so say they finish everything, ceremony and pictures in 2 hours. that has them heading out around 12. those cars have to leave towson as our cars are arriving. just be prepared for traffic. please consider this.
* the weather forecast looks good. cloudy, but on most sites, only a 15% chance of rain during our graduation arrival / graduation / picture taking window. we have certainly been fortunate with weather.
* students should not take any belongings into the gym as they get organized for the ceremony. they will not be able to carry it with them. (no purses, bags, etc...)
* as referenced previously, your child has to arrive at towson university by 1 p.m. they have to check in and get lined up in the proper order so they leave with the correct diploma. this can take a bit of time. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE. the ceremony begins promptly at 2 p.m.
* if you and your maverick drive together at towson, you will be heading different ways once you make it to the arena. your maverick will head to an auxiliary gym to get organized and guests will head to the arena to find a seat.
* the campus at towson does have some parts that have a decent incline. just know some parts of your walk may be uphill.
* each guest, even a newborn, needs a ticket. this is the policy of towson university.
* bcps instructs schools to keep their graduation exercises to an hour in length.
* once the ceremony ends, the graduates will recess into the courtyard, which is the green area to the right of the SECU Arena on the map. this is where pictures will be taken.
so, this is likely our last post as advisors to your maverick. please know we enjoyed every moment; this is easy when you have the best kids. hard to believe this day is here.
thank you for your dedicated and consistent support over these four years. together with you, we were able, at least we hope, to give your maverick an amazing high school experience. for that, we say thanks.
enjoy the moment; this is an accomplishment not only for the graduates, but for their family and friends who helped them reach this milestone. and remember, once a maverick, always a maverick.
see you tomorrow!
