A few weeks ago, I lost my uncle — my godfather.

He was funny, sometimes challenging, and always ready with a sharp joke or a story that could fill the room with laughter. But what I’ll remember most about him isn’t his humor or even his writing — it’s how he showed up.

When my mother was sick and dying, he was there. Quietly. Consistently. With her favorite dessert in hand.

At his memorial, people didn’t talk about his job title or the work he did. They remembered his warmth, his friendships, his quirks, his faith — and how he made people feel seen and loved.

It reminded me that, in the end, our legacy isn’t built by what we do, but by how we show up for others.

His passing has brought me back, once again, to what truly matters: family, faith, peace, and fun. To connection. To showing up — not perfectly, but faithfully.

💭 It’s made me ask myself a question I’d love to ask you, too:
When people remember you, what’s the one word you hope they’ll use to describe how you showed up?

I wrote about this more deeply in my latest reflection — you can read it here:
