Notre Dame First Grade

First Graders, check out our pal Humphrey visiting Marquette last night.

Day 1 - We made it!!! What a fun group! We had a great year! We squeezed in every minute of fun today. Now have a great summer! 😊❤️

Day 2- Read with a buddy.
We finished our entire Humphrey series today! There are 13 Humphrey books and 3 spinoff Og books. We have read a chapter every day all year (sometimes more than one). Today we read with our stuffies including our beloved classroom pet, Humphrey (the pretend 🤫🤐) hamster. Every night a student (with good behavior throughout the day) gets to take Humphrey home for the night. They have an adventure with him and write about that adventure in our classroom Humphrey journal. It’s their (and my) favorite thing about first grade. Humphrey gets incorporated into many of our lessons throughout the year and we love him. It was a great accomplishment to finish all of the books today with our stuffies and each other. ❤️🐹
We also got to read to our friends from Kindergarten (future first graders!) and that’s always fun to be the big kids. One more day! 🥰

Day 3 - Bright Future
Today we wore our sunglasses and looked ahead to next year. We talked about all of the exciting things that they get to do next year as second graders. 😎

Day 5 - Reading Day. Everyone brought their favorite book to school. The future first graders came to visit us and then we read our books to them and did a book review.

Day 6 - Game Day
We played musical chairs, paper scissors rock, and bingo. Such a fun day!

Day 7 - Song Day. We’ve been singing all day!

We got to have a little extra recess time with our Fourth Grade Buddies today. 🥰

Day 9 - Exercise Day. Had to show our muscles after all that exercise!

It’s the final countdown!!
Today we began our 10 day countdown to the end of our first grade year.
Today was color day. We wore our favorite color to school. We graphed our favorite, sang songs about colors, read books about colors and danced. Monday we exercise!
