From Michigan City Area Schools the following announcement has been made:

We are pleased to share that the Indiana Department of Education has approved MCAS’s plan to address the four instructional days missed as a result of the severe August storms. IDOE approved the district to utilize Option 2, which allows us to leverage additional instructional minutes already built into our school calendar. Because MCAS exceeds the state’s minimum instructional-time requirements, we have sufficient instructional minutes within our existing calendar to account for the time lost.

As a result, we will not need to add four additional student days to the 2026-27 school calendar.

This year's theme for College Go Week is: Road Trip! Discover your Destination. Students can participate in:
1) College Go Week--Spirit Week. Monday is wearing school colors or Coolspring gear
2) A scavenger hunt
3) Other Activities

We will have daily announcements to explore 3 destinations: Enroll, Employ, and Enlist.

🎨 Happy National Arts in Education Week! We celebrate the essential role arts plays in a well-rounded curriculum for our students.

💻 Tomorrow is National IT Professionals Day. Thank you to our IT staff that keep MCAS connected, online, and ready to learn every single day!

🚜 September 17 is , emphasizing the importance of agricultural education and the dedicated teachers who inspire the next generation of leaders in agriculture.

🇺🇸 September 17 is also Constitution Day, giving schools a special day to explore the historic document that shape democracy.

💵 SAVE THE DATE! We will hold a Financial Aid Early Awareness event on Tuesday, September 22. All K-12 families are welcome.

🎤 Join us on Wednesday, September 23 at Edgewood Elementary School for MCAS Community Meeting #3 about the 2026 Operational Referendum. This is an opportunity to learn more about how Indiana school funding works, the impact of property tax caps on Michigan City Area Schools, and what the referendum would support.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and MCAS is celebrating with our next Traveling Spirit Stick Challenge!

As part of the challenge, we’re adding some school spirit to Wolfie Way Wednesday on September 16.
