Parents, back to school time can be filled with a slew of emotions. The kids are sort of excited, you are trying to figure out their schedules and how to align them with yours, and the shopping......oh, how much fun it is lol. 🤪

How can you help your child be ready for the first day? Here are some quick tips:

1. Ask them how they are feeling. Do they feel ready? Is there anything more you can do?

2. Have their backpack ready, lunch packed and clothes for the first day laid out.

3. Eat dinner together. Talk about what they are looking forward to as well as what has them worried.

4. Early bedtime routine. Lavender is a beautiful addition to any bath, shower, etc.

5. Turn off all devices including the tv at least 2 hours before bedtime.

6. Breakfast = brain food. Think high protein, low sugar.

7. As hectic as the morning can be, try to maintain a calmness in the house. I like to play music softly in the background as we are getting ready to leave.

8. Don't forget the hugs, high fives and "I love you."

9. All kids love notes. Put one in their lunchbox or backpack. I also hand them a note on the way to school.

10. Have fun! Enjoy each moment because, believe me, it goes by so so fast!

As one school year ended and another is soon to begin, many students are referred for special academic services. This may lead to many questions that you as a parent, may have.
