Meet Andrew López Sánchez, MD, MBA 🩺🇨🇺

We’re proud to feature Andrew, an Internal Medicine applicant, and our Miami Chapter Coordinator, highlighting the experiences that have shaped his journey across countries, healthcare systems, and new beginnings.

His background includes leadership in multidisciplinary clinical teams across hospital and prehospital settings, teaching and mentoring fellow IMGs, and serving people experiencing homelessness in South Florida. Through his work with our community, he also continues to support and mentor fellow Cuban IMGs on their journey.

Her journey in healthcare began at just 19. At 22, she became a Registered Nurse, and at 27, a Nurse Practitioner. That same year, her desire to do even more for her patients led her to begin her journey in medicine.

Celebrating research, dedication, and impact!

Congratulations to the members of our IMG Cuba Journey community whose work, “Shock Timing in STEMI-CS: Management and Outcomes in a Resource-Limited Setting,” has been published in JACC: Advances. 🫀

This multicenter study, based on data from four Cuban hospitals, provides valuable insight into cardiogenic shock complicating STEMI and the challenges of managing these patients in a resource-limited setting.

We are incredibly proud to see Cuban physicians contributing meaningful research to the global medical community.
