As educators, we are deeply saddened by the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a man whose extraordinary kindness, unwavering commitment to humanity, and profound decency touched countless lives around the world. As a statesman, humanitarian, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, President Carter devoted himself to improving the lives of others, advocating for peace, social justice, human rights, and establishing the U.S. Department of Education with a humility and grace that left a lasting legacy.

His integrity, compassion, and tireless work for the most vulnerable among us will continue to inspire generations to come. Our thoughts are with his family and all those who were fortunate enough to witness his remarkable life.

We did it!!!

Together, we finally repealed GPO and WEP, the unfair penalties that denied retired educators, first responders, and other public service workers their full Social Security benefits.
