In the Reggio Emilia approach, clay is a language — a way for children to think, feel, and make sense of the world with their hands. And the way they use it grows right alongside them.

In our Nido room, our littlest ones meet clay for the first time — poking, pressing, pinching. Discovering that their hands can change something in the world.

By VPK they’re building upward — working the clay vertically, learning how to make it balance, hold, and stand. Turning ideas into something real.

From that very first poke to the tower that finally stands, every stage is a window into how a child is thinking. 🌱

Today is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL at KLA Schools of West Kendall and we couldn’t be more excited 🤍

A few days ago we kicked off the new school year with our Back to School Bash — giving our families the chance to get messy, have fun, and experience some of the hands-on activities their children get to do every day at KLA. Paint, clay, splash tables, music, and a whole lot of smiles.

At KLA, we believe preschool should be so much more than learning — it should be an experience your child looks forward to every single morning. One where they create, explore, discover, and grow through intentional, hands-on activities that are designed with purpose. That’s the foundation of our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach and it’s what makes every day here special.

At KLA Schools of West Kendall, even our culinary experiences are intentional. When our children measure, pour, mix, and taste, they’re building fine motor skills, learning real-world math, developing sensory awareness, and practicing collaboration — all in one activity.

In the Reggio Emilia approach, every experience is designed with purpose because we know that what children do at this age becomes the foundation for how they learn, create, and grow. Culinary experiences is just one of the many ways we make that happen.
