🌍Earth Week: Day 4🌍

Used books 📚 are a simple but powerful 💥 way to support Earth Day. Reusing books ♻️reduces the demand for new paper, which helps save trees 🌳 and lowers energy use in printing. It also keeps perfectly good books out of landfills, 🗑️cutting down on waste. Choosing secondhand books 📕 is an easy habit that supports a more sustainable, circular way of living. ♻️

🌎 It is Earth Day!

A powerful global call 🚨 to action—reminding us that the _health of our planet_ depends on what we do right now.‼️ Every choice we make, from reducing waste to composting, directly shapes a more sustainable future.

This year SEED, the Green Committee PTA parents, ECO Club, aftercare staff, teachers, and students united to transform our composting program.

Together we are making a real difference, building a stronger 💪 culture of sustainability in our community. Through teamwork, education, and consistent habits, our composting efforts have grown dramatically achieving a *225% year-over-year increase in pounds composted.*
From lunchroom sorting to classroom lessons, cleaning buckets, morning announcements 📣 -each group has played a vital role. _This collaboration shows how collective action, even in small daily choices, can lead to powerful environmental change._

The number one way you can help as parents is to remind your children to only take food they will eat. A good example is an apple 🍎 – we see a lot of untouched apples in our compost each week.

It’s Earth Week! Day 2:
Did you know Sunset has several pollinator 🦋🐝 gardens across campus, including a newly installed one outside first grade designed by native plant experts?

This vibrant space supports local ecosystems while providing a welcoming habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Best of all, students get hands-on experiences observing caterpillar 🐛 lifecycles, bees 🐝 in action, and butterflies 🦋 up close.
In our garden, you’ll find a mix of native plants 🌿 that bloom year-round, offering nectar and pollen, along with host plants and colorful wildflowers.🌻🌸🌺

You can create a pollinator garden in your own backyard, too!
