season can bring big emotions. πŸŽ’πŸ’™

As children adjust to new routines, teachers, classmates, and expectations, some stress or worry can be normal. But when emotional or behavioral challenges become persistent, intense, or begin interfering with daily life, it may be time to seek additional support.

In this video, Yesenia Rodriguez, Licensed Mental Health CounselorΒ from our center at FIU, shares signs caregivers can look for and why getting support early can make a difference.

Parenting stress may be affecting more than how families get through a difficult day.

A new FIU study led by Enid Moreira, an FIU psychology doctoral student and researcher at our center, found that parents experiencing higher levels of stress are more likely to rely on screens to calm or occupy their children and may be less likely to enforce consistent screen-time limits. The findings highlight the importance of supporting caregivers and focusing not only on how much screen time children get, but also on the quality of the content they use.
