Miami Dade County Public Schools asked every campus to wear gold today for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. MAST answered.

A shirt does not cure anything. But families going through this often say the hardest part is feeling invisible, and a district full of schools moving in the same direction on the same day says someone noticed. Some of these kids are our classmates. Some are siblings, cousins, neighbors.

Thank you to the Makos who wore gold today. You were part of something bigger than this campus.

Eighth grade lunch got a little sweeter today. Our eighth graders came through for cookies, music, and a well deserved break in the middle of the day.

Big thank you to our SGA Officers who helped staff and set up start to finish. They handled the setup, the serving, and the cleanup, and they made it look easy.

Another big THANK YOU to the parents who donated the pulled together to donate the cookies. This one would not have happened without you.

Every grade, every student, two days, one message.

We walked through expectations for the year, answered the questions that were still floating around, and made sure every Mako knows what this year looks like and what we expect from them.

We also had a special visitor stop by. Thank you to Mr. Perez from the Region for taking the time to visit with our students.

Now we get to work.

Thank you to the U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret Dive Team for spending time with our students yesterday.

Hearing firsthand about their training, their equipment, and what it takes to do that work is not something our Makos will forget. It is exactly the kind of experience that shows students what is possible.

We are looking forward to visiting their training facility down the road.

Yesterday marked our first Offshore Cart of the year, and it did not disappoint. Shoutout to our PTSA for keeping everyone fueled with snacks, and to our Leadership students who put the car together and flagged down out teachers for a treat.

Watching our teachers’ faces light up when that cart rolls by never gets old. It’s a small thing that says a lot about who we are as a school.

Thank you to our MAST Academy PTSA board.

They spent their summer sorting and prepping uniforms, ran two sale days before school even started, and then showed up on the first day to help move our drive through line. None of that happens by accident. It happens because a group of parents decided to show up for our school.

If you have been thinking about getting involved, this is your sign. There is room for you, whatever time you have to give.
