Founded in 2018 with 168 elementary students, more than 1,100 students from Greater Miami are educated and inspired today in KIPP Miami classrooms. KIPP Miami is part of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) national nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools educating elementary, middle and high school students. Today, KIPP Courage recognized Mental Health Awareness Month by creating space for students to learn about mental health, break the stigma, and remind one another that it’s okay to not be okay.

Meet Rose Désir! Seven years ago, she helped open the doors at KIPP Royalty Academy. Next year, she’s stepping into a new chapter as Assistant Principal of K–2 ELA at KIPP Legacy Elementary. Born and raised in North Miami, Ms. Désir leads with love, high expectations, and a deep belief in what kids can achieve. As a proud Haitian woman raised in an immigrant household, she knows firsthand the power of education and every day, she pours that belief back into her students and community.
