New Word School of the Arts was created by the Florida State Legislature in 1984 as a Center of Excellence in the visual and performing arts. A unique collaborative venture of the University of Florida, Miami Dade College and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the school provides a continuous comprehensive program of artistic training, academic development and preparation for careers in dance, music, theater, and visual arts.

Fredric Snitzer Gallery presents "Hernan Bas: On Paper", an exhibition by NWSA visual arts alum, Hernan Bas. The show brings together a selection of monotypes, ink transfer drawings, and works on paper created between 2018 and 2024, offering an intimate view into the artist's evolving practice across a range of themes, processes, and scales. NWSA BFA theatre alumna, Chabely Ponce, will star in the Tribeca world premiere of "Cotton Fever." The film explores the uneven cycles of addiction and recovery among several interconnected lives. Congratulations Chabely for another outstanding accomplishment!
