What a night for Miami! 🎭✨

Congratulations to our Arshties representatives, Alec Avila and Olivia Serrano-Salow, on their recognition at the 2026 The Jimmy Awards:

🏆 Outstanding Performance in an Ensemble — Alec Avila & Olivia Serrano-Salow
🏆 Spirit of the Jimmys — Alec Avila

These honors celebrate not only talent, but also collaboration, professionalism, enthusiasm and the ability to lift up those around you.

We couldn’t be prouder of Alec and Olivia for representing Miami and The Arshties on a national stage. To see our inaugural Arshties program recognized in this way during its very first year is truly special.

Thank you to the Jimmy Awards for an unforgettable experience, and congratulations to every student who participated in this remarkable celebration of musical theater.

Congratulations to NWSA high school musical theatre alumna (Class of 2026) for being among the students recognized last evening during the 2026 Jimmy Awards. Olivia was among the six students who received an award for Outstanding Performance in an Ensemble and performed on Broadway at the ceremony. Congratulations Olivia.

In a previous post, it was incorrectly stated that Sofia Jaramillo also attended the national awards yesterday, and an incorrect photo was added to the post. We apologize if this error caused any confusion to the students, parents or followers of the NWSA social media accounts. Sofia WAS a winner at The Arshties in Miami last month and we are so proud of her work as well. NWSA wishes the very best to these talented musical theater young artists.

Miami Dade College's America250 celebration featured an exceptional music concert directed by Dr. Daniel Andai, Dean of Music at New World School of the Arts. This concert offered the audience a captivating musical experience that traced the historical narrative of Miami and the United States, starting with original compositions and culminating in grand works that embody the essence of the nation, illustrating a story defined by bravery and potential. The performance also showcased several NWSA alumni who participated as orchestra members, highlighting the profound influence of arts education at MDC / NWSA.
