💻📕For Digital Humanities enthusiasts:
Dr. Keyao Pan and his colleagues developed an OCR tool for reading Japanese and English primary sources. It utilizes the NDL-OCR model developed by National Diet Library of Japan. The tool allows users to upload PDFs or folders of images (think photographed primary sources) and OCR them for text to edit, annotate, and export. By default, all data stays local, although one can add one's own APIs for AI or OCR cloud services.
