Thanks to the Ambsssador Grant, the Ottawa County 4-H members enjoyed a fun morning at the Annex. All dressed up in their pjs and wide awake to learn cooking skills while following nutritional values and safety in the kitchen. On the menu, of course, pancakes, making their own creations using four secret ingredients. Yeah, everyone a winner… Clover Buds through Senior divisions.
Members of the Ottawa CountyOHCE is proud to provide funding through this Intergenerational Grant that sponsored four 4-H events this year. Participants experienced painting barn quilts; designing a nine patch quilt block at the workshop on sewing ; assembled a gingerbread house and yesterday’s workshop taking them into the kitchen.
Thank you for a fun year of working together.

Through an Ambassador Grant, the members of the Ottawa County OHCE sponsored a Learn to Sew workshop during 4-H Day Camp this past summer. 4-H attendees designed their own 9 patch quilt block. Day 2- those blocks became a pillow that was exhibited at the County Fair in August. Two of several entries shown here. Thank you 4-H leadership for inviting our sewing group to join Day Camp for a fun day of learning to sew.

Our hearts are saddened as Ottawa County OHCE President, Linda Garrett has passed from this life last week. Linda, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother was a faithful steward of OHCE values in the home, in the community, and Ottawa County. Linda joined Elmview group in 1983 and was inspired to live daily the OHCE Motto; “Leaving the world a better place by having lived in it”. May her legacy live on …. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family

Ottawa County OHCE believes in the future of our youth as they grow into our leaders of tomorrow. We applied for and received an Ambassador grant titled “Enriching Lives through Intergenerational Learning “. These funds will sponsor fun activites at the Ottawa County 4-H Day Camps this summer.
This week, 9 attendees participated in the Barn Quilts Workshop. Thank you to OSU /4-H leadership in our County for allowing OHCE to host today with your supplies provided through grant funds. Looking forward to 4-H Clubs’ fun summer!!

As OHCE WEEK emphasis comes to a close in 2025, we would be amiss not to share the state slogan for our organization’s FAMILY Enhancement Committee . “Educate families to promote individual character and community service for present and future generations”. This committee focuses on Family in all 77 counties within Oklahoma. From those state goals , Ottawa County OHCE has adopted goals of specific needs in Ottawa County. In past months our sewing group has provided lap quilts to the home bound, nursing homes, Veterans, Bedtime Blessings, and Salvation Army. Teddy bears provided to emergency personnel (fire depts, OHP, police, C.A.C., etc). School supplies for Teachers Toolbox, and bottled water to Boys&Girls Club.
The state project has been to reduce hunger in Oklahoma. Our project committee surveyed the county to locate four Blessing Boxes and we continue to visit those locations, placing staple, non-perishable food in each.
In our 2025 Spring Council meeting, our guest speaker was a member of the staff at the Ottawa County C.A.C. At this meeting, we showered the C.A.C. with 2 lap quilts, toys and individually wrapped snacks to replenish their cupboard. E. Botts serves as committee chair. The Ottawa County OHCE is very proactive in endeavors to support the state and county goals as we live out our organizations’ mission.
