The language process in the Montessori classroom starts with matching letters. The children move on to objects and beginning letter sounds. Then objects on cards with the matching beginning letter sound. After is the child provides the letter that’s missing at the beginning of the word, the end sound of a word, and finally the middle sound of a word. This helps them develop auditory skills to distinguish letter sounds and visual discrimination to choose the correct letter.
