Just wanted to let you all know first hand, it is not a rumor... I'm really not returning to Southridge this year. I'm sad to go, but excited about the new opportunities that await me at MAST Homestead. I will truly miss you all. Please keep in touch!! I'm on Facebook, ya know. :)

Ugh.

Last fall, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) helped to sponsor the Ocean Conservancy’s 2012 International Coastal Cleanup. Over 550,000 volunteers collected 10,000,000 lbs (4,540,000 kg) of refuse. This graphic represents the top 10 collected items.

Great idea!!!

The concrete is treated with titanium oxide and absorbs nitrogen oxide from the air. These measurements were taken from a study that installed the smog-scrubbing sidewalks on a city block in the Netherlands and monitored air quality over the course of a year.

Wow!

Elif is a finalist in the Google Science Fair. She has also won the Science in Action award, which included a year’s worth of mentorship and $50,000.

Elif’s project uses the starch and cellulose of banana peels to create bioplastic, which she hopes will be an environmentally friendly alternative for use in cable insulation and medical prosthetics.

For those who always wondered about male snake parts. Lol.

Snakes and lizards have what is known as a hemipen*s. Instead of one shaft, they have a dual-lobed male s*x organ. Only one side is used at a time, and the male alternates which one is used in subsequent matings.
