🌱 A Glimpse Into Sprouts | Our First Week Back
Our first week back has been all about getting comfortable in our classroom, learning our routines, and discovering how we can care for our environment together. 🤍
The children have been learning how to work in the classroom spaces, including our washing station, where they practiced washing their own plates and utensils and placing them out to dry. 🧼💧
These practical life experiences are such an important part of the young child’s day. Through real, purposeful work, children build independence, coordination, concentration, responsibility, and confidence.
There is something so special about watching a child realize, “I can do this myself.” ✨
From washing a plate to caring for the classroom, these small moments are building the foundation for capable, confident, and caring learners. 🌿

✨ Our First Week Back in Nido! 🪞🌿
What a beautiful first week back to school in our newly designed Nido classroom! 🤍
This week, our youngest learners explored reflection through everyday moments of discovery, self-care, language, and emotional awareness.
🪮 At our self-grooming mirror, the children practiced brushing their hair and caring for themselves while discovering their own reflections.
📚 In our literacy & emotions corner, mirrors became a way to explore facial expressions, identify emotions, and build early language around how we look and feel.
These simple moments are meaningful opportunities for our Nido children to develop independence, self-awareness, and connection—all while settling back into the rhythm of school.
What a wonderful way to begin our new school year! 🌱✨

Simple Bedtime Routine for Toddlers & Preschoolers | Miami Montessori Academy
Establishing a calm, predictable bedtime routine helps toddlers and preschoolers wind down, transition smoothly from play to rest, and feel secure before sleep. Early childhood educators at Miami Montessori Academy recommend this structured 4-step evening routine to build healthy sleep habits for young learners across Miami.
The 4-Step Toddler & Preschooler Bedtime Routine
1. 🧸 Quiet Play & Reset (30 Minutes Before Bed)
• Dim the Lights: Turn off bright overhead lights and switch to soft lamps to signal to their brains that night has arrived.
• Tidy Up Together: Put toys to "sleep" in their bins or cubbies. Frame cleaning up as a gentle closing activity for the day.
• Pack the Backpack: Let your child place their water bottle or comfort item inside their preschool backpack so everything is ready for the morning.
2. 🛁 Wash & Freshen Up (15 Minutes)
• Warm Bath or Washup: A warm bath or a quick face-and-hand wash helps relax tired muscles.
• Pajamas & Teeth: Put on cozy pajamas and brush teeth together.
• Final Potty/Diaper Check: Take one last trip to the bathroom or complete a diaper check to prevent middle-of-the-night disruptions.
3. 📖 Connection & Storytime (15 Minutes)
• Choose Books Ahead: Let your child pick two short books (limiting choices prevents bedtime stalling).
• Snuggle Close: Read together in low light using a calm, quiet voice.
• Talk About the Day: Ask one simple question, such as "What was your favorite thing we did today?" or share one thing you are looking forward to tomorrow.
4. 🌙 The Final Tuck-In (5 Minutes)
• Comfort Items: Hand your child their favorite blanket or stuffed animal.
• A Nighttime Signal: Use a consistent parting phrase or physical connection every night—like a double hug, a hand-kiss to save for later, or a gentle "heart lock."
• Lights Out: Turn on a nightlight or white noise machine, give one final kiss, and say goodnight.
💡 Expert Tips for Routine Consistency:
• Keep the sequence identical every night: Young children thrive on predictability and knowing what comes next.
• Keep transitions visual: Use a simple visual routine chart with pictures (e.g., Bath ➔ Pajamas ➔ Story ➔ Bed) so your child can track their own progress.
• Maintain steady boundaries: Keep the evening routine focused and brief (around 30 to 45 minutes total) to prevent over-fatigue.

Each year, tragedies occur when children are left in hot cars.
A car can heat up quickly, even on mild days. Leaving a child inside for even a few minutes can be deadly.

Safety is one of the greatest investments we can make in our school community. ❤️⛑️
Today, our team completed CPR, First Aid, and Fire Extinguisher training with Rent-A-Medic, and it was nothing short of outstanding. We also participated in an incredibly impressive trauma and injury response training that gave our staff the confidence, knowledge, and hands-on experience to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency.
We are so grateful to the Rent-A-Medic team for providing engaging, realistic, and professional instruction. Preparing our educators to keep children safe is a responsibility we take seriously, and today was another important step in ensuring we’re ready for whatever comes our way.
Here’s to a safer, stronger, and more prepared school year! 💚
As we reach the middle of the week before school begins, we’re feeling so grateful for everything we’ve accomplished already! ✨
Since Monday, our team has been hard at work refreshing and enhancing our learning environments to ensure every space is beautiful, purposeful, and ready for our children. We’ve also participated in a behavioral analyst workshop, giving our teachers additional tools and strategies to better support each child’s learning, development, and well-being.
Every detail is being prepared with intention, and we can’t wait to welcome our families back for an incredible school year! 💚

One of our favorite in-house field trips yet! 🫧✨
Our Bubble Show was absolutely magical. Watching the children’s faces light up with wonder, laughter, and excitement was a beautiful reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens through joyful, hands-on experiences.
There was so much curiosity, excitement, and awe as the children explored the science and beauty of bubbles in such an engaging way. Experiences like these create lasting memories while nurturing a love for learning.
It’s moments like these that make childhood so special. 🤍
