We’re thrilled to welcome Katharine Labuda as part of the FilmGate Documentary Festival ✨🎬

Katharine Labuda is a preservationist and educator who has worked in the archives and libraries world for over 15 years. In her current role as a Special Collections Librarian with the Miami-Dade Public Library System, she manages the 16mm Film Collection and archival materials in the Helen Muir Florida Collection. 📚🎞️

Through her acclaimed AV CLUB series, Katharine brings curated screenings of rare 16mm films from the library’s collection to libraries, museums, and cultural spaces across South Florida. By collaborating with local filmmakers, curators, and journalists as guest hosts, she creates unique community experiences that celebrate film history, preservation, and storytelling. ✨

In June 2024, Miami New Times named AV CLUB the “Best Film Series” of the year — recognizing Katharine’s dedication to keeping analog cinema alive and accessible for new audiences. 🎥🏆

A passionate advocate for archival film and local culture, Katharine continues to champion the importance of preservation, projection, and shared cinematic experiences in Miami’s creative community.
