Program in action at Madison Middle School.

During this visit, students experienced an I Do, We Do, You Do Watercolor Basics lesson designed to build strong foundational skills and instructional confidence. Through guided demonstration, collaborative practice, and independent application, students began developing techniques they will carry into their upcoming monochromatic landscape paintings.

It was an impactful New Teacher Support visit at James H. Bright.

Working alongside Mr. Victores and his ESE class, we explored adaptive strategies while creating expressive paper sculptures. Students practiced cutting zigzag, wave, and straight lines using adaptive scissors before transforming their work into 3D masterpieces.

Our New Teacher Support Program focuses on inclusive practices, hands-on engagement, and building teacher confidence to ensure all learners thrive in the art room.

Students from Braddock Senior High School had a fantastic time exploring the exhibitions at the Frost Art Museum. The visit gave them an opportunity to experience a wide range of artworks up close, sparking thoughtful conversations, curiosity, and creative inspiration. It was wonderful to see students actively engaging, asking questions, and making connections between what they saw in the galleries and their own artistic ideas.

The I Do, We Do, You Do Gyotaku printmaking session at North Twin Lakes with Ms. Reynel and Ms. Morales was a wonderful experience filled with creativity and hands-on learning. Students had the opportunity to explore the traditional Japanese printing technique step by step, building confidence as they moved from guided demonstration to collaborative practice and finally to creating their own prints independently.

It was exciting to see their curiosity, teamwork, and pride as each unique fish print came to life. Sessions like this highlight how engaging process-based artmaking can deepen understanding while making learning truly memorable.

This New Teacher Visual Arts support visit at Redondo Elementary School with Mr. Sanchez was full of creativity and strong student engagement. Students learned about artist Romare Bearden and explored how he used collage to tell stories about city life and community. Inspired by his work, they created vibrant cityscape collages using layered shapes, color, and thoughtful composition.

The 40th Annual Impressions in Watercolor Exhibition has been an incredible success. This milestone year brought together a stunning collection of work that celebrates the depth, versatility, and beauty of watercolor. It has been inspiring to see so many artists, families, students, and community members come out to support the exhibition and engage thoughtfully with the artwork on display.

A special thank you to the Miami Watercolor Society, Art South Miami, and the Village of Palmetto Bay Perrine Community House for their partnership and for making this wonderful exhibition possible. Their continued support helps create meaningful opportunities for artists and the community to connect through the arts.

It was a great day of touring and art making with Hialeah Senior High School at the Frost Art Museum. It was a pleasure to spend the day exploring the exhibitions alongside art teachers Ms. Caballero and Mr. Sasieta, whose dedication to bringing meaningful art experiences to their students truly shows. Opportunities like this allow students to engage with diverse artworks, deepen visual thinking skills, and make real-world connections to their classroom learning. Students at Homestead Middle School worked together on a collaborative Zentangle painting using India ink and making air dry clay monsters with their art teacher Mr. Planells during their support visit, they explored pattern, repetition, and contrast. Each student contributed unique designs that came together to form a cohesive large-scale artwork. The zentangle process emphasized teamwork, focus, and mindful mark-making and the claymaking displayed their wonderful individualities.
