Belen Jesuit Preparatory School

The first day in Sevilla was the perfect start to this year’s Cultural and Linguistic Immersion Program. The group explored this beautiful city, visiting the University, formerly La Real Fábrica de Tabacos, and the Archivo de Indias. They enjoyed traditional tapas at El Mercado de Triana and walked through the neighborhood. In the afternoon, they participated in a hands-on ceramic painting workshop and even learned the basic steps of flamenco.

This morning the Belen pilgrims began the day with Mass in the Domitilla Catacombs. Then it was a morning of prayer in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls followed by a visit to the Coliseum and the Roman Forum.

The Belen pilgrims made their way to Rome today. They visited the rooms of St. Ignatius of Loyola and spent time in prayer in front of his tomb at the Gesu Church.

Day 2 done! The Belen pilgrims were in Assisi today. They prayed in front of the cross of Saint Damien, celebrated Mass at the tomb of Saint Claire, and visited the body of Saint Carlo Acutis and the tomb of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The Belen pilgrimage group finished the first day with dinner in Florence at the home of Federico and Daisy Gandolfi Vallini, parents of Manuel ‘28 and Pietro ‘30.
