Yesterday, Jayanta Jenkins, VP/Global Creative at Starbucks, inspired Miami Ad School students in Miami and Atlanta. An alumnus of the school, Jayanta shared his legendary journey from the Martin Agency, TBWA/Chait Day to top roles at Samsung, Twitter, and DISNEY. Known for iconic campaigns like Nike Shox and “The Lebrons,” he co-founded Saturday Morning to address racial inequities in advertising. Jayanta's extensive experience and passion for community and purpose-driven work have shaped a remarkable career. His strong ethos and philosophy, built on resilience and learning from failures, underscore his amazing success and influence in the creative industry.
We celebrated our 1st anniversary in our new mid-town Atlanta location with cake in Atlanta (thank you, Stephanie); and Starbucks coffee and food in Miami (thank you, Jaynee). Jayanta is an alumnus of the school we are proud to say. Students left inspired and excited about future opportunities in advertising and design. THANK YOU, Jayanta!

Get ready for a groundbreaking moment in Cannes history—as two Miami Ad School Europe students, Nidhi Shah and Rag Brahmbhatt, have clinched a prestigious Golden Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity! This incredible achievement marks a rare theatrical twist in the narrative of creativity, as students seldom capture such esteemed accolades. Their entry? A humor-filled radio spot that proves the medium's power to tickle the funny bone and spark joy!
During their internship at Serviceplan Group in Hamburg, Nidhi Shah, and Rag Brahmbhatt, nearing the end of their studies, pitched a concept that quickly won hearts on the 2nd day of their internships. Swiftly championed to the client, Sandoz Deutschland, a leading pharmaceutical company in Europe, their 'Otter' spot, under the mentorship of Michael Wilk and Miami Ad School alum Till Diestel and the steadfast support of Sabine Georg, Managing Director at Miami Ad School Europe, earned a well-deserved Golden Lion for its witty script.
This victory is not just about a trophy; it's a testament to how laughter can transform radio into a stage of endless possibilities, turning every listener's moment into an exhilarating burst of joy. Serendipity!? In Paris this morning, I metaphorically bumped into my good friend George Hirthler. Both of us, unknowingly, had traveled from Atlanta to this city, meeting by sheer chance. I’m here visiting Group EDH and our Paris school, and then having been in Cannes representing Miami Ad School at the Cannes International Creative festival.

George is here with a tale about the Olympic Games. Today, Olympic Day, he speaks at the opening of “Genius of Sport,” an exhibit he created for the Pierre Coubertin family. Pierre, founder of the modern Olympics, is George’s hero. George will speak alongside the French Minister of Culture and the IOC President.

The irony of our parallel journeys from Atlanta: two storytellers, cultural messengers, curators of good ethos. Perhaps the serendipity of our paths is a sign of something greater.

A Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Cannes Experience!
The Cannes International Lions Creativity Festival in 2024 was nothing short of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious—a word that perfectly captures the grandeur, greatness, and splendor of this remarkable event. This year's festival was a pursuit of excellence, showcasing the very best in creativity and innovation.
A huge shout-out and a heartfelt thank you to Rhian Smith, one of the nicest, kindest, and most helpful people I've ever met. Rhian, the Business Development Manager for the Cannes International Festival of Creativity and a lead on the Cannes Development Team played an instrumental role in making my first Cannes adventure a resounding success. Titles aside, Rhian is simply a 'Best Human.
Her constant support, readiness to challenge me, and calming presence made navigating the festival a much smoother experience. Cannes is an event that's impossible to fully explain, but Rhian's British heritage lends a perfect word to describe it: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It embodies everything grand, great, glorious, splendid, superb, and wonderful about the Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

At Cannes Creativity Festival... you never know who you'll meet in Cannes, that's the best way. Serendipitously, running into good friends from New York, Keven Swanpole, CEO of the of Creativity, Adam Zen, the Membership Director of the One Club of Creativity, and myself from Miami Ad School. Secret handshakes were exchanged and after short exchanges of commonalities, we were all off in different directions. Hey! it's the Cannes Creative Festival! Great to see Kevin and Adam!

Thrilled to host University of South Carolina Professors, Jeffrey and Sabrina Williams from USC in Cannes! Over lunch, and then over to the Carlton, in the LinkedIn pavilion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, we brainstormed with WPP’s Director of Global Search and Talent Acquisition about the future of junior talent and advertising and design industry needs. The Cannes Creativity Festival is a vortex whirling of fresh ideas, good friends, and proving that collaboration is where the magic happens. An inspiring day of educational exchanges, friends, and endless possibilities—turning thoughts into ideas and ideas into impact.

Miami Ad School Golden Lions Rooooooaaarrr! At the Creativity Festival, Ana Gabunia and João Parreira from the Berlin campus of Miami Ad School won Golden Lions in the student competition for their innovative campaign, EarSafe (https://vimeo.com/936719078). This remarkable campaign transforms Spotify into a free hearing tool by using your favorite songs to boost the frequencies you can no longer hear.
