Coach’s Corner took a ride to Doral to play some beach volleyball and finally practice what I preach:). .. I spoke about Mindset being very important but as I had some time to think of it, I found that adapting was just as important or more so. I started playing with little to no warm up because the rain was near. Immediately I feel my legs are not cooperating the way I’d like them to. My feel of the game is rigid…. but I notice my inconsistency is driving my opponents crazy, so I ADAPTeD to a new strategy to stay inconsistent with shots and serves and coasted to a victory 21-12 😁🏆 So, while my confidence put me in the right mindset , my ability to adapt to reality, allowed me to excel.. Not pretty, but a Win. I feel as if the low hanging fruit is there for those who adapt and are grateful🍎.

Lesson #5 — Movement Is Not Punishment. It’s Freedom.

After 30 years as a coach, one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is this:

Movement is not punishment. It’s freedom.

We often think of exercise as something we have to do because we ate too much, gained weight, missed a workout, or need to “get back in shape.”

I see it differently.

We move so we can live better.

So we can get up from a chair with confidence.
Play with our children or grandchildren.
Travel without hesitation.
Carry our own bags.
Play the sports we love.
Climb a mountain.
Dance.
Explore.
And simply wake up knowing our body is capable of taking us where our life wants to go.

After three decades of coaching, I don’t believe the ultimate goal of fitness is to look a certain way.

It’s to remain capable.

Because the greatest gift exercise can give you isn’t a smaller body.

It’s a bigger life.

Twenty years ago, I opened the doors to Morphē with one simple dream… to help people move better and live better.

Over the years, those four walls became so much more than a fitness studio. They became a place where friendships were formed, confidence was rebuilt, challenges were overcome, and a community became family.

As some of you know, my lease is coming to an end on October 1st. While it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, my heart is full of gratitude rather than sadness.

The building may be changing…

The mission is not.

Morphē has always been about people, not walls.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing what’s next, and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re building something that will allow our community to stay connected, continue learning, and continue moving together—no matter where we are.

To every person who has trusted me over these past 20 years…

Thank you.

You have changed my life as much as I hope I’ve changed yours.

This isn’t goodbye.

It’s the beginning of the next chapter.

Coach’s Corner: Intention and its benefits… Intention and purpose are closely related and often interchanged, but Intention is a specific mindset, short-term, tactical, focus is on how and what you direct your energy towards right now, changes day to day or task to task… while Purpose is the reason for why things are done and exist, long-term, foundational, focus is why are we doing this in the grand scheme, enduring and stay relatively stable over time… When both are applied magic is made. Let this be our greatest skill, bring intention to our conscious body and purpose to our journey.
