What a great showing at tonight's in the Big Apple! Fr. Willie, S.J. '87, Carlos Bravo '86, and Phil Fernández '94 traveled to NYC for an evening of fellowship and connection at Regis High School. Alumni reconnected with fellow Wolverines, heard updates from campus, and strengthened the brotherhood that keeps us united.

The Rick Raimundez ’90 Tailgate and Homecoming Game is coming up! This year is extra special as we induct Coach Richard Stuart as an honorary alumnus and will present him with a Belen class ring! There is still plenty of time to join in on the fun and become a part of the team that makes this event possible by becoming a sponsor. Visit belenjesuit.org/tailgate or contact Rebeca Lowell at [email protected] for more information.

We can't wait to see our community back on campus as we celebrate Coach Stuart, the Belen Brotherhood, and support our Varsity Football team!

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sr. María Ángeles Cartaya, R.F. She worked at Belen Jesuit from 1996 until her retirement in 2020.

She is the older sister of Fr. Pedro Cartaya, S.J. She entered the Sisters of St. Philip Neri Missionary Teachers in 1950. Her vocation to education led her to teach and serve as principal in Havana, Cuba; Reno, Nevada; and Sparks, Nevada before arriving in South Florida. From 1971-1985, she served as principal of St. Jerome School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; then from 1985-1994, she served as principal of Our Lady of Divine Providence School in Miami, Florida.

She began her tenure at Belen Jesuit in 1996 and served the school in many capacities, including as a Guidance, College, and Spiritual Counselor before becoming an assistant at the Ramón Guiteras Memorial Library. Throughout her 24 years of service at Belen, she made a tremendous impact on the lives of countless students and co-workers.

She dedicated her whole life to the service of God, the Church and the education of young people. May she rest in peace.
