Congratulations to 2025 MDC Hall of Fame inductee Kevin Marino Cabrera on his well-deserved Senate confirmation as the next U.S. Ambassador to Panama! 🇵🇦

Born in Miami to Cuban exiles, Commissioner Cabrera began his academic journey at South Miami Senior High School and graduated with honors from . He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree cm laude from , continuing a path defined by dedication and service.

🌟 From his role as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner to now representing our community on the global stage, we are proud to celebrate ’s continued success. Your journey is an inspiration, and we are honored to call you an MDC alum!

In case you missed it 📣 recently honored MDC alumnus Nikolas Venegas as the 2025 Rookie Teacher of the Year for the nation’s fourth-largest school district. Venegas teaches first grade at Homestead’s Avocado Elementary School.

Venegas, an alumnus of Keys Gate Charter High School, graduated from in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

He approaches education as an incubator for exploration by fostering an immersive classroom that features dedicated stations for collaborative or independent work on real-world projects that incorporate science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics ( ).

Both students and parents appreciate his commitment to open communication and an exploratory learning environment.
