Summer Spotlight: Sofia Soler 🌞

Sofia Soler, a junior majoring in PR & Advertising is spending her summer interning at MOAD’s Freedom Tower Miami, one of Miami’s most iconic cultural spaces where art, design, and history all come together. 🏛️

At her internship, she is focusing on graphic design, marketing, and social media. She has developed a variety of digital content, including reels highlighting exhibitions and events. In addition to content creation, Sofia supports event documentation, museum interview archives, and recent efforts to optimize and strengthen the Freedom Tower’s brand presence.

As an FIU student, she co-leads the chapter at FIU and has previously served as Director of PR at 💡

She says, “My goal is to use strategic communication in service of creativity, the arts, humanities, and culture.”

She’s doing it all! Keep it up, Sofia! 🐾

FIU student earned recognition at the 2026 Young Ones competition from The One Club for Creativity, with awarded work receiving a Merit distinction and helping FIU remain in the global rankings alongside creative portfolio programs from around the world.

Over the past three years, FIU students have earned Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Merit honors at The One Club Miami Awards, charting a clear path straight to the Young Ones, one of the advertising and design industry’s most respected student competitions.

Judged by leading professionals across advertising, design, and communications, Young Ones celebrates standout student creative work from around the globe. Proud to see FIU student work continue to be recognized on the international stage. 🌎✨

Last week, the FIU School of Communication attended the Miami Awards Luncheon & Fundraiser in support of Haiti Air Ambulance, the only helicopter air ambulance service dedicated to serving the 11.4 million people of Haiti. 🚁🇭🇹

Operating 365 days a year, provides lifesaving emergency transport to critically ill and injured patients regardless of their ability to pay.

We were honored to hear from Professor Jefferson Noel, who served as one of the keynote speakers and shared a personal connection to the cause.

The event brought together groups of students, alumni, healthcare professionals, legal advocates, and leaders for this initiative such as FIU Communication Arts student Vanessa Cadet, Advisor Juliette Saint Louis who contributed to the intergenerational dialogue that took place last week.

Thank you to Professor Hugo Ottolenghi and Mark Kaufman for helping bring this impactful event and partnership to life. 💙

President of Fourth Economy and FIU School of Communication alumna Sally Guzik is leading projects that help communities create more equitable and sustainable futures across the country 🌎✨

After earning her master’s degree in Mass Communication - Global Strategic Communication from FIU, Guzik built a career rooted in community impact. Showing us that communication professionals belong in leadership roles.
