🌞 Summer Spotlight: Victoria S. 🎭

The journey of a theatre artist doesn’t pause for summer.

This summer, we’re highlighting members of our MCDS Theatre family as they continue to grow as artists.

Victoria is spending her summer training at the Actor Therapy Summer Intensive, where she’s developing her craft while gaining valuable insight into the professional industry. Through daily classes and mentorship, she’s learning from the Actor Therapy team and growing as both a performer and a person. At the end of the intensive, she’ll have the opportunity to share her work in a showcase for industry professionals, friends, and family.

We’re so proud of Victoria’s dedication to training, learning, and embracing every opportunity to grow. Keep shining, Victoria! 👏✨

🌞 Summer Spotlight: Rockwell M. 🎭

The journey of a theatre artist doesn’t pause for summer.

This summer, we’re highlighting members of our MCDS Theatre family as they continue to grow as artists.

Rocky is spending his summer at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts. During the first session, he performed in Man of La Mancha, his first upper camp production. For the second session, he’s taking on the role of Isidor Straus in Titanic, where he’s excited to tackle a challenging role and the duet Still.

Beyond the stage, Rocky also wrote an anime parody screenplay that was selected for production, and he’s now directing and acting in the film.

We’re so proud of Rocky’s dedication and creativity. Congratulations, Rocky! 👏✨

First up is Carina, who is spending four weeks at NYU Tisch, training at the Atlantic Acting School. During her first week, she’s already explored Shakespeare, casting, film, scene study, and devising while learning from incredible teachers and fellow artists.

To teach artists well, we must continue being artists ourselves. 🎭✨

The latest Education column, Those Who Can Learn, Teach, reflects on a summer of artistic renewal and professional growth, including time spent studying at The Juilliard School through the National Alliance for Acting Teachers.

At its heart is a simple belief: training, creating, and remaining curious as artists enriches our teaching and ultimately deepens what we can offer our students and our community.

🎭Learning doesn’t stop at the end of the school year. 🎭

This summer, our US theatre teacher, Mrs. Pla-Guzman, will be attending the Teacher Development Program with the National Alliance of Acting Teachers at The Juilliard School, participating in professional training with faculty from leading conservatory and university programs, including Columbia University, NYU Tisch, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and Juilliard, in areas ranging from scene study and movement to character work, play, mask work, and acting for the screen.
