Grateful to my colleagues and fellow legislators for their support in securing $2 million in state funding for FIU’s myFORCE program, an investment in something far greater than research. It is an investment in hope, in more tomorrows, and in the future of how we fight cancer. 🎗️
Under the leadership of Dr. Azzam and the extraordinary team at the Center for Advanced Personalized Cancer Treatments, myFORCE is pushing the boundaries of precision oncology and developing personalized approaches to cancer treatment for pediatric and adult patients right here in our community.
Cancer has touched far too many families. Behind every diagnosis is a mother, father, child, spouse or friend hoping the next breakthrough comes in time. That is why investments like this matter. The research being done today could become the treatment that saves someone’s life tomorrow.
We fought hard to secure these resources because Florida should be a place where groundbreaking cancer research happens, where new treatments are discovered, and where families facing the fight of their lives can find hope close to home.
A special thank you to three incredible individuals who helped pave the way for this work and planted seeds that continue to grow and benefit families here at home and around the world: FIU President Jeanette Nuñez Jeanette Nuñez, Senator Anitere Flores Senator Anitere Flores, and Raymond Rodriguez Torres Raymond Rodriguez-Torres.
