Senior Danielle Ramirez, student in the STEAM Fitness and Sport Studies Focus area, spent her summer interning at the University of Miami in the exercise physiology lab of Dr. Joseph Signorile studying the neuromuscular effects of training on aging adults and Parkinson’s patients. Way to go Danielle!

This summer, Ms. Cristina Ramirez spent a month in Iceland, immersing herself in the country’s rich culture, traditions, and way of life. We love seeing our faculty explore the world and bring new experiences and perspectives back to our Royal community. 💚💛🦁

ILS alumna Camila Garcia, Class of 2026, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., with her father and ILS Faculty member, Mr. Diego Garcia, after earning 1st Place in the 2026 Congressional Art Competition!

Her award-winning piece, “Old Man,” has now earned first-place honors in two prestigious competitions. Before winning the Congressional Art Competition, it also received 1st Place in the Drawing & Illustration category at the Beaux Arts Student Art Competition at the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami.

Selected through the annual Artistic Discovery Contest hosted by the Miami District Office of Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, Camila was recognized at the Congressional Art Competition Winners’ Celebration alongside student artists from congressional districts across the country. During her visit, she met Congresswoman Salazar, toured the U.S. Capitol, and saw “Old Man” proudly displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, where it will remain on exhibit for the next year.

Camila’s success reflects not only her exceptional talent and dedication but also the commitment of our Fine Arts Department, which encourages students to participate in local and national competitions each year—creating opportunities for our young artists to gain recognition and share their work on larger stages.
