It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of John P. Capurso, beloved AFP Miami Board Member, four-time chapter president, and treasured friend to so many in our community. John passed peacefully on May 4, 2026.

For nearly four decades, John was a cornerstone of AFP Miami. He joined AFP in 1998 and never stopped showing up for the organization, for its members, and for the mission of ethical, inspired fundraising. His career spanned advertising and fundraising across Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida, most recently as principal of Capurso Consulting.

His impact on AFP Miami extended far beyond any title or tenure. Through his years of service, John helped strengthen nonprofit organizations, inspire rising fundraising professionals, and shape AFP Miami into the chapter it is today, guided always by compassion and integrity. His leadership was marked by generosity, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to the philanthropic community he loved.

A respected colleague and cherished friend, John leaves behind a legacy that will long be felt across AFP Miami and throughout our broader community. We are grateful for every year he gave to this organization and to our community.
