Happy Mother’s Day!!

There is something special about when sisters get together.... Sorors of from Delray, West Palm, Ft Lauderdale and Miami met up for a good ole' southern-style late lunch at Catfish Dewey. It was good food, good fun and good fellowship! We must do this again!

"We have come this far by faith!" Happy 57th Anniversary of the Chartering of Alpha Gamma Chapter! We are grateful to our Charter Members for laying the foundation, to the Past Presidents who caught hold and carried out the mission, Sorors and SHADs who supported the mission, and all youth, parents, and organizations for which we served - for these things we are grateful and thank God for longevity.

Flashback to a week ago, when family, friends, and members of Alpha Gamma Chapter (Iota and Delta Chapter) gathered to honor "Pillars of our Community!" The room was filled in ebony hue, with whispers of our heritage, and the excitement for our future. MC Janice Minnis delightfully led the day, followed by a welcome by Ms. LaEatrice McMurray that featured an impromptu of ole' Negro Spirituals to remind us from whence we have come. Guest speaker, Miami Gardens Chief of Police, Delma K. Noel-Pratt was amazing in her echoes of encouragement and hope. The centerpiece of the day was when we honored Pillars of our Community - Yvonne Parchment, Ed.D, Michele Wyatt-Sweeting and Chief Dexter Williams. There was a wonderful rendition of "A Change is Going to Come" by Ms. Carolyn Rolle, a stirring tribute to Alpha Gamma's Charter Members, by Ms. Twyla Miller and a fashion show parade of beautiful African Wear. Members of the local chapters of NCNW, NAACP, Special Olympics and Florida Memorial University were also invited to receive their annual monetary award. It was an awesome way to spend the day! Here are a few snapshots of the event.

Alpha Gamma's Annual Candlelight Vesper Service was a great success! Special Thanks to Allen Chapel AME, Pastor Ronnie Britton, our Guest Speaker Mrs. Jackson and various National and Regional Officers, SHADs and Youth of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated who were in attendance. For more than 50 years, Alpha Gamma has hosted the Candlelight Vesper program to bring in the Holiday Cheer to the community... and we love it! Merry Christmas

Treats, Treats...and no Tricks! Today was a good day! Sorors visited Lotus House Chic Thrift Store to be a blessing. Many bags and containers filled with clothing for women, men, and children. Also shared snacks and candy for the Shelter. For info, the thrift store is an essential partner of the Lotus House Women Shelter in Overtown, that caterers to women and children who've been affected by homelessness and Domestic Violence. Felt good to be a blessing today.
